School is underway!

Wow! School has fully started now and everyone is getting back into the swing of things! I already have so much to do, between papers projects and reading assignments I don't have any time to breathe! lol The big thing for me that's going on this week is Rec. Week starts for the sorority here on campus! We have loads of events planned for this week and I hope and pray we receive some really great girls! The sorority has gone through some tough situations and we have finally gotten back on track and we totally deserve some awesome girls! I cannot wait to see what God has in store for us this week! I will post pic's from all our events later on in the week so you can see what we have done and what we are about! Soccer is going well. We have a lot of hurdles to get over this season but we getting over them! God did answer our prayers about having numbers for this season but we aren't getting the result we had wanted. We are trying hard and growing closer as a team but we still have a lot of work to do to get where we want to by the end of the season! Wow my junior year is crazy and it's only the first month of school! It will only get better as it goes on! lol

three day weekend comming up!

Well it's Sunday and I have to admit that I'm working on some homework that I left to the last minute. Last week was the first full week of classes, so there is plenty of homework and studying to get to. Tuesday I went to watch some of the girls' soccer game. It's cool when there are home games during the week, because it's easy to make time to go watch the games. On Saturday there was a dodge ball game in the gym. I'm useless at dodge ball, but it still was a lot of fun. After the game me and a few friends went to lunch at Zaxby's. I tried to do some homework that night, but kept getting distracted. So today I went home for church, had lunch, took a nap, and now I am trying to get all this work finished so I can go to bed a little earlier tonight. I can't believe it's only the second week of school and I already feel like I'm behind. This week I have a lot of stuff due, but thankfully there is a three day weekend to look forward to!

Now I remember what college is like...

Wow! Last week was so great. We went to Centennial Olympic Park and played some awesome Ultimate Frisbee, and we even had a few new people come play with us. As we were leaving, it started to rain, so some people were hanging out under the World of Coca-Cola building while waiting for the buses, and some guy asked them to be in a movie! They called us and we all got to be in the Coca-Cola movie for the new building. Crazy times.

Well this week, there was no holding back. It's back to studying hard, and being a college student again, with homework and a part-time job. Tonight we had the first official meeting of the ACC Creative Arts Team, and there was such a huge turn out. We've got a lot of talent and so much potential, now we just have to show the school what we're made of. This blog is gonna be short, sorry. Like I said, I have homework to finish before I go to bed!

and so it begins...

So the first three days of class were great. I checked my schedule the night before classes started and realized I didn't have any Tuesday or Thursday classes! I also found ten dollars in my laptop bag so it was a pretty good night. My plan is to use Tuesdays and Thursdays as homework days, that way I can avoid having to do school work on the weekends. I just hope that I actually stick to this plan.
There has been a lot of things happening the past few days at ACC. The boys soccer team had a game against the alumni. I wanted to see some of the game, but I ended up going to a Braves game instead. Turner Field is only ten minutes away. My friends and I always get the cheap seats, so going to Braves games is a regular activity for us. We also made the first trip of many to the Dwarf House. It's ten minutes away and is open all night. During the summer I tried to avoid Chick-fil-a so I wouldn't get tired of eating it during the school year.
Well I just finished up some homework a little while ago and I'm going to hang out before Sunday Nights. Sunday Nights is a totally student led service. We normally worship, play some games, hear some announcements, and there is usually a short message. And then after that I'm going to try to go to bed before midnight, because staying up late and getting up early is already wearing me out a little.

A great start to a Junior year.....

Hey all!

School has started once again at the same time as last year, it never fails! Although it is school I am enjoying it. I love living in the apartments with my three favorite people on campus and there is never a dull moment. Soccer '09 has started as well, we are working harder this year than ever. I believe we will have a successful season and I cannot wait for our first game on Tuesday, although it is only a scrimmage it will still allow us to see where we stand! :) I am very excited about the season and getting to know all the awesome girls that are on our team! But if soccer isn't your thing ACC is sure to have what you are looking for. We had an awesome game night the other night as part of orientation. We played Taboo, Checkers, Uno, Twister, Ultimate Ping Pong, WII and even Guitar Hero. I had the oppotuniuty to meet some really cool freshmen and not to brag or anything but my team owned at Taboo! (btw we only one by one point) lol My Junior year has already started off great and I cannot wait to see what else is in store!

Back in the swing of things!

We're finally back in school! I'm so glad to be back with my friends on campus. It's only the second day, and I've already made some new friends! Looks like it'll be another great year. I hope the rest of my classes go as well as the ones today and yesterday did. Since I'm a sophomore, most of my professors I've already met, or had classes with, so I know what to expect. I'm kind of nervous though, I have an audition next week for guitar class, I might even get to skip Beginner Guitar, and go into Intermediate Guitar. I've been playing for about 2 years already.

I'm living with two of my best friends, and I might even get to have my own room. There are some things still in the air about final rooming assignments, but for now, everything is great. Tonight we're going to have dinner at The Varsity, then get fresh Krispy Kreme's, and just hang out! Sounds like a good time, but I have homework to do, so I better get started on that, so I can enjoy it without having to leave early. See you soon!

It really exists....

Have you ever been sitting around with friends, family or just by yourself late at night and been hungry? I know I have. And if your a human being then you have been in this predicament probably more than a few times. Well me, I'm a Georgia boy born and raised, so Chick-fil-a runs in my blood. I will just about always say yes to a chicken sandwhich and warm waffle fries. In fact, I'm not sure I have ever said no.
So I'm sitting in my dorm room a few nights ago, Facebooking like any good teenager would do when all of the sudden my CLM (Campus Life Minister [equivalent of a RA]), AJ comes running down the hall. And when I say running I mean like full on sprinting down the hallway. He is screaming in this tongue that I have never heard (later I found out it is the tongue spoken in only when its time for midnight food). He just about football tackles my door open and is just yelling something I can barely understand.
"Cole lets go! We are going to D Hou!"
"What?"
"D Hou dude! Its a 24 hour Chick-fil-a!"
At this point my face light up. Could it be true? A CFA that is open past 10pm? Its something only spoken of in a teenage boys dreams when he is still watching movies at 3am.
"AJ, are you serious? Dont be playin with me right now! If you're serious of course I'm going!"
People, he was serious. AJ spent the next few minutes rounding up some more of the guys from Roberts Hall to go. In his excitment to get to "D Hou" (which by the way is the short term for Dwarf House) AJ left me! I told him I would meet him in the parking lot because I had to get shoes. I was gone maybe 45 seconds and he left!
Luckily, another CLM whos name escapes me was going. I arrive at this magical place of 24 hour chicken sandwhiches. It was the most beautiful thing I have seen in my life, well, close to it anyways. But it gets better...they were serving breakfast. Now you gotta understand how I see a CFA. Its good. In fact it might be the best. But its 1000x better in the morning when you can get what is called a CEC, a chicken egg and cheese bagel. Im standing there already amazed that this is real, and then my heart just explodes in pure joy when I see a sign that reads: "This Chick-fil-a serves breakfast from 11pm-10:30am". There are no words to describe the awsomeness of that.
After a few long minutes of waiting I am sittng next to 2 of my classmates, Steven and Kyle, and I'm chowing down on my CEC and chocolate milkshake. I over hear from AJ that Storm, another classmate, was suppose to be coming. He was following another group of students who he thought were going to D Hou but in fact lead him to McDonalds. So AJ is trying to give directions to Storm on how to get to D Hou. I drift out of that conversation and back into the one at my table.
Time goes on and everyone finishes eating and some people begin to leave. A few cars pull out and then someone says "Well we can't leave, Storm is still trying to figure out how to get here". This jogs my memory, oh yeah where is Storm. Skip ahead about 10 minutes and Storm and his group walk through the door. Storm looks like he just weathered the flames of hell and he is gunning straight for AJ. He walks up to AJ and in the most serious voice I have ever heard looks him right in the eye...."AJ you give the worst directions, EVER!" The whole room erupts in laughter strong enough to injure someones stomach. After it calms down AJ says:
"Dude I told you exactly how to get here."
Storm, "Oh yeah AJ, does this sound very helpful to you....(immitating AJ) Yeah Storm, I have no idea where that street is your on but go up to the next light and turn left, HAHAHA. Click."
AJ apparently was trying to tell Storm where to go. Which doesnt work very well when you have no idea where someone is and something funny had caught his attention and he just hung up. Storm said he used up about a half a tank of gas that night just running around Atlanta looking for D Hou. His adventure took him all the way by Turner Stadium, across to Georgia Tech, and finally after almost an hour to the famous 24hour CFA Dwarf House.
So yes my friends. The 24 hour chicken sandwhich is real. It exists. It is fantastic. It is fun. It is gut wrenchingly funny. And you can have it whenever you want with the CLMs leading the way at Atlanta Christian College

Hey!

Hello Everyone!
My name is Dana and I'm a senior and an English major here at ACC. It's the night before move in day, and while I had a great summer, I can't wait to be back at school. This summer I worked on one of the school's PR teams. It was wonderful to have a summer job I truly enjoyed. I met some amazing students at the different camps we visited. Some of those students are attending ACC this year! After a month straight of working at different camps, I came home and left for two weeks in California. So I have had a pretty fantastic summer, but I'm very excited about tomorrow and the beginning of a new school year.
I'm living with three awesome roommates and I'm looking forward to fun times with the girls! I also can't wait to see all of my friends again and to meet new people. There are so many things happening at ACC, especially at the beginning of the school year, that give you a chance to hang out and meet new people. My youngest sister is in high school and yesterday she told my how bummed she was that school had started. She just looked at me when I told her I couldn't wait to get back to the routine of school.
I hope you are as excited as I am to start the new school year. My car is packed and I'm sitting here patiently (well not patiently) waiting to leave tomorrow. So I hope you enjoyed your summer and have a great start to the semester!

Two more weeks...

Hey everybody! I'm Lawrence, A sophomore at ACC. I'm a Music major with a double minor in youth ministry and biblical studies. As much as I love the summer, and getting a nice little break from studying, I'm really looking forward to next semester. I have some really great roommates, a challenging, but exciting course schedule, and a lot of new people to meet! Oh yeah, I also help out with the drama club, and our plans for this year are so exciting.

I was on one of the PR teams this summer, and got a chance to go to a bunch of cool Christian camps, and even got to go to the North American Christian Convention. What an experience! Lots of great networking, lots of great ways to learn about what other Christians are up to around the US. I gotta say though, I'm exhausted, and these last two weeks before school is back in session will definitely be needed!
