The beginning of the end

My thoughts as school comes to a close...

  • We should make a truck pool in the student parking lot (tarp/water/truck bed)

  • There are two more weeks of classes, then a week of finals=4 or 5 classes left (praise God)

  • I am working on campus over the summer...When should I start packing up my dorm room in order to move to the apartments? (all students who live on campus during the summer are put in the apartments)

  • I need to get a cross cultural experience form to fill out this summer. My mission trip to Africa will count toward that. (Every student is required to go on a cross cultural experience before they graduate)

  • I should warn my mother that I will be needing some help with cooking skills again this summer. (I am the worst cook...to be on my own is a dangerous idea)

  • I need to buy text books (or bumb some off someone else who has already taken the class)

  • I need to make sure that I haven't used up all of my absences in my classes ( I am sure that I haven't)

  • I should take home any winter outfits. TIP:When living in a dorm, you have to make sure to "live light." This means that you can't keep everything you would like to keep. First of all, you have roommates who need space too. You will be changing rooms every year either way. Pack light to help yourself out.

These are all of my thoughts/tips for this time of the year. School is alomst out!!!!! I am ready for a new and exciting one :)

Being Lead

I have a lot going on in my life right now. Today is one month from graduation, I will be moving in with my sister the week leading up to graduation, and I will also have finals that week. I am less than 5 months from getting married, and my best friend is getting married 6 weeks after me. And this is just the big stuff, this doesn't even include the little everyday things that are always on my never ending to-do list. Well last night. I let a friend of mine come over and use my oven to make cupcakes for her roommate's birthday. She came back over this morning while I was in class to ice them and left a note on my desk. The part that inspired this blog was this: "Hang in there...just a month to go! And don't worry...God will lead you where he wants you!" That got me thinking about how I was lead to ACC (becoming Point University) by God a few years ago. What got me here was the opportunity to play basketball for the school and I thought he wanted me to be a youth minister. In one month I will graduate as an English major, and I only played one season of basketball. But I know without a shadow of a doubt, God lead me to exactly where he wanted me to be. Believe it or not, there are people who are planning on transferring schools just because of our name change. And I have heard of some high school students who where interested in attending school here who are now not because of the name change. If you are reading this and fall into one of those two categories, remember this; God did not call you to this school because of the name. Just like he didn't call me here to be a youth minister. But if I would have transferred after changing my major, how far I would have been for his plan for me! That little note also relieved some of my stresses about finding a job. If I had transferred, that friend and I wouldn't have a relationship today. I know that I was lead to Point University for a reason.

Campus Ministry Day

Campus Ministry day occurs once a semester! This is when the whole campus shuts down and the students, teachers and faculty go out and help the community. I had the opportunity to go to City of Refuge. This is a place in Atlanta that helps the community in many ways. They have a children's area in which they have after school care and tutors for the children in the community. They also have an area where people can donate slightly used items. These items are sent out to the community. I had the opportunity to work in the food portion and the area in which they sort the items people donate. The food part was incredible because of the stories the man told us. Who knew that a box on cheerios could allow someone to know Jesus. It's a crazy thing! We had to fill the boxes with enough food to feed a family of four!! So a friend of mine carried the box and I shopped! It was a lot fun and made me feel good about myself. Knowing that I am helping out a family of four have food for a week. But, knowing that I have the opportunity to help someone find Christ! That is such an amazing thing that people get saved by boxes of food. I think that campus ministry day is a great thing that the school does. It allows us to humble ourselves while helping others. Next semester I want to go back to City of Refugee and help the community I live in even more.

Spring Ministry Day/Formal

Every semester, the college shuts down to go out and serve. Last Thursday, beginning around 8:30 a.m., the students, faculty, and staff piled into 15 passenger vans and went to various places to help out the community. For example, some students went to a place named "City of Refuge" in Atlanta, others went to different places around the new West Point campus. Camp Woodland had students serve there as well. Basically, for half a day, we all go to these various locations and serve, whether it be cleaning windows, sorting through donated clothes, or constructing things. I always have a lot of fun at these events. While getting to know our fellow classmates even more, we are also serving God by helping out the community. I think it is amazing how willing and selfless we all are on days like these. It really is a neat thing to witness. Every Spring semester, SGA (Sudent Government Association) plans a dance. People get really dressed up and have a ball! This year, we had it at Stone Mountain on the river boat. It was AWESOME! We got to see some fireworks while enjoying the wonderful weather. Everyone had a blast, danced the night away, and had yummy desert! Both of these events are great for our students. Everyone needs a little break from studying sometimes. ;)

school?

It is that time of the year again - DORM WARS!!! Next week we will be having competitions against other dorms/apartments. It was a blast last year and will be even better this year. Last year I was co-captain; the captain just wanted to have fun so we lost. We will win this year! I am el-Captain, meaning winner. The girls are going down, the guys are going to look like girls, and team PRIME TIME is on the road to the golden toilet!

After dorm wars there is spring formal. Last year was awesome - I definitely went with the prettiest girl on campus. My roommate said my date lost a bet last year, which we all know is a lie! I am sad to say that I'm not taking the prettiest girl on campus this year. In fact, I don't even have a date... Anyway its going to be a great week next week (besides my test).

ahhh spring

Best time of the year - the flowers are blooming and the sun is a shinin' in good ole spring. Okay, well enough with that - it is spring break and we have games. We have played two already, winning the first and losing the second. We are playing three games on Friday...that's right three! So be there!

I do not know what else to write which makes me kinda feel lame because everyone else on here is writing novels of their life story, but then I think about it and I don't.

Why? You may ask.

Good question. Well because I have swag! Enough said.

I'm out.

busy week

So this week was one of my busiest. I had two tests, four games in two days, and work. Well, the games went well - we won 3 out of 4 (beating Berry twice and Young Harris once). Work is work I just give tours so it ain't too bad. As you can tell I mentioned my tests last - I'm proud to say I passed one without studying, but the other one wasn't too hot.

Tomorrow the baseball team and some other students are going to West Point to see our new campus-to-be in two years. It should be exciting. I know we (the baseball team) will make it fun. I am going to record some of it so who knows what might be on facebook (so check it out). That's all for this week. Kinda boring I know. Next time will be more exciting! I will be blogging on...Idk yet.

I'm out. G

I'm BACK!

Guess who's back back again g is back tell a friend.

Here's the deal I have been blogging but realized that I made my own blogging account... So I am just going to copy and paste what i have been blogging about.

End of the Semester

Well, it's been a while and a lot has been going on. I thought things would slow down a little after my recital....but I was wrong. This week we had dorm wars. It was really fun and it gave everyone a chance to relax and let loose for a few days. We also had Spring Ministry Day on Thursday. We all signed up to go to different places and just help out and minister to different people. I had the opportunity to go to City of Refuge in Atlanta. City of Refuge provides food, clothing and other necessary resources to the less fortunate and struggling people in Atlanta. It was an awesome day. I packed boxes full of food that would be delivered to the homes of families and I also helped organize the warehouse where they keep donations like furniture and clothes and electronics; there were even a couple of cars in there. It is so easy to get wrapped up in yourself these days with our busy schedules and deadlines that we have to make; it was nice to step back for a day and put myself in the backseat and think about someone else and their well-being. As a Christian though, one day is not enough and it shouldn't take a school ministry day for me to get out into the world and share the love of Christ with others. This week ended with a bang: Spring Formal. We all went out to Stone Mountain and boarded a river boat and just had a good time. Now, it is time to get back into the groove of things. There are papers due, and projects and finals right around the corner. We are almost to the end and it is looking pretty good.

Spring Ministry Day 2011

Today hundreds of ACC staff and students attacked our community with the love of Jesus! ACC sent students to Point University's new home West Point, GA and Lanett and Valley, Alabama. Students also went to Woodland Christian Camp and God's Farm. I went to City of Refuge with 90 students. My group went to the park and had a cookout with children that live on campus at the City of Refuge. I am on SGA and we headed up the cookout. Storey, Rob, and I prepared lunch, while the kids played football and kickball with the other ACC students. After lunch we played on the playground. I made a friend, named Michelle(pictured above). She is 8 and we got sick spinning on this amazing little merry-go-round. It was such a great day to serve and love kids who do not always experience love. Greg lead our group today and he really challenged me to serve. City of Refuge has so many opportunities to serve and it is important that we take the church outside of the church by serving in other areas.
