SNL

Hey guys! Well this is my first blog, so I guess I should introduce myself! My name is Herani and I’m a freshman. I’m a counseling and human services major. When I was asked to write this blog, I had no idea what to write about. So I thought about it, and it came to me! How could I forget to tell you guys about the amazing Sunday Night Live that we had last Sunday?! For those of you who are reading this and don’t know what Sunday Night Live is, let me fill you in! Sunday Night Live is a ministry that puts on different worship services every Sunday night. We try to put together a service that the students will enjoy, but also get something out of it as well. I am a part of the Sunday Night Live team and it’s something that I am growing to be more and more passionate about every week. This past Sunday we had a special Easter event. We called it our “Interactive Passion Night.” It started at nine o’clock, but people started showing up at 8:30. By the time 8:50 rolled around, it was already packed!  We had different stations set up to represent the different things that Jesus went through up until the resurrection. One of my favorite stations was a station called “the light of the world” we had one huge candle in the middle that represented Jesus, and a bunch of little candles around it. Each person got to light a small candle and put it on the table. It looked so cool when it was done!  Throughout the night we had, tears shed, eyes open, and lives changed by the Easter story being told in a hands on way. At the end of the night, we counted up how many people we had that night, and we counted 150 people! We had been praying that God would bring people through the doors and he did! God is so good! We’re so thankful for such a successful night. Amazing things are happening on Point University’s campus and I and so glad I get to be a part of it!

Life as a Soccer Player at Point University

Life as a soccer player at Point University….. How can I describe to you what it is like? In my apartment, I am the only one who is not lazy. Whenever my alarm goes off, my head is off my pillow right away. However, my roommates need someone to wake them up.  If I don’t wake up, then none of us wakes up! Why do I have to be the one to wake my roommates up?! My roommate from Habersham and my roommate from Oxford, Alabama are some great guys that I am thankful for, but they are a little slow when it comes to waking up sometimes. No, all the time. We get up every morning, or at least try our best to, and make our way to get a cup of Joe. My roommate from Oxford already fell back asleep at this point, and I literally have to turn some music on full blast in order to get him out of bed!! Usually some Justin Beiber will do the trick! Since the spring is offseason, sometimes we will go run or workout together. I try to keep up with my roommates when I run, but I use to be a goalkeeper, so that’s the end of that! So after we finish classes, we have practice on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Practices are fun until we have punishment or running until we throw up our insides. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we go to the gym to get “swole” as we say it! This is when having teammates help me! Without everyone screaming at you to push through the pain, it would never happen. So I hope that I have entertained you even if you don’t play soccer….Ah, who am I kidding, Ain’t nobody got time for that!
